๐Ÿงต BOROSILICATE GLASS CUPS WITH COLORED RIMS

Single & Dual-Colour Hot Melt Winding | B2B Customisation Ready

๐Ÿ‘‹ Why These Cups Are Different

Most colored glass cups you see today have their decoration painted or glued on. After a few months of washing, the colours fade, peel, or flake off.

These cups are different.

The colored rims you see here are not stickers, not paint, not decals. They are glass — fused to glass through a traditional technique called hot melt winding (also known as glass-to-glass welding).

Once fused, the colored threads become part of the cup itself. They will never fall off, never fade, and never peel.

๐Ÿ”ฌ Made of Borosilicate Glass

All our cups are crafted from borosilicate glass — the same material used in laboratory instruments and premium tea sets. Here‘s why it matters:

  • Thermal shock resistant – Withstands sudden temperature changes. Pour hot tea into a cup straight from the freezer — no cracking.

  • Chemically stable – No harmful substances leach into drinks. Complies with food contact safety standards.

  • High transparency – Crystal clear glass shows off the true colour of cocktails, coffee, or tea.

  • Light but strong – Thinner walls than ordinary glasses, yet more durable. Lightweight feel for daily use.

๐Ÿ“Œ A note on material options
While we recommend borosilicate glass for its superior thermal performance, the hot melt winding technique can also be applied to soda-lime glass — the common material used in everyday glassware. If your project prioritises cost-effectiveness over extreme temperature resistance, soda-lime glass is a perfectly viable alternative. Both materials work seamlessly with our single-colour and dual-colour winding processes.

๐ŸŽจ The Craft: Hot Melt Winding (Glass-to-Glass Welding)

Here is how it works — in plain language.

Step 1: The cup rim is heated until it glows red and becomes soft, like warm molasses.

Step 2: Thin colored glass threads are wrapped around the hot rim — one circle, or two, depending on the design.

Step 3: Under high heat, the threads and the rim naturally fuse together. After cooling, they become one solid piece of glass.

No glue. No paint. Just glass fused to glass.

Single-Colour Winding

A single Pantone-matched colour wrapped around the rim. Clean, minimalist, and elegant. Perfect for brands that want a classic, understated look.

Dual-Color Winding

Two colours on the same rim — creating contrast, gradient effects, or brand colour combinations. Dual-colour designs make your glassware instantly recognisable.

Both options are permanent. The colours will not fade after hundreds of dishwasher cycles.
